55 Years of BSG – An Anniversary on July 1

To mark the 55th anniversary of the Fraunhofer Society Sankt Augustin e. V. Company Sports Association (BSG), an anniversary celebration will be held on July 1, 2026, as part of Health Day, featuring free sports and recreational activities. All campus employees and BSG members are welcome to participate.

Refreshments will be provided, including coffee, cake, and a barbecue buffet.  A modest contribution (1) of 10 euros for BSG members and 15 euros for non-BSG members will be charged. After registering and paying, participants will receive a badge on the day of the event that entitles them to the meal. Beverages will be available at reasonable prices.

We offer a barbecue buffet featuring a variety of meat dishes (pork steak, turkey cutlets, and grilled pork and chicken sausages), as well as vegetarian and vegan options (vegetable cutlets, vegetable skewers, bratwurst, and burger patties). A selection of salads and party rolls round out the menu.

The band, consisting of Daniel Schumacher (acoustic guitar & vocals), Marco Hülsmann (vocals & acoustic guitar), and Uwe Kirschenmann (electric guitar), was formed over a delicious Kölsch on the tennis court of the BSG Fraunhofer in Sankt Augustin. The band is often supported by Martin Ossendorf on bass.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our BSG members for their donations, as well as to the companies AdiutaByte GmbH, Scapos AG, and SIDACT GmbH. Without your generous support, we wouldn’t be able to host this anniversary celebration in this way!

Free activities offered by BSG at Health Day

Outdoor | Tennis courts

(1) with scoring, (2) no scoring

1:00 - 2:00 PM & 3:00 - 4:00 PM | Archery

Archery as a Team-Building (2)

In this team-building module, participants learn the basics of archery. The focus is on proper posture, concentration, and inner balance. Participants identify their personal sweet spot and practice aiming at it in a relaxed atmosphere. They shoot with recurve beginner bows and wooden arrows at two stationary targets.

Each round lasts 60 minutes. If the number of participants is very high, the rounds can be reduced to 30 minutes each.

2:00 - 3:00 PM | Pétanque

Pétanque Tournament (1)

Two teams of two players compete against each other. Each player has two balls. The objective of the game is to place one’s own balls as close as possible to the target ball (“the jack”). The team that did not place the best ball near the jack is always up next. Once all balls have been played, a round is over. Now, each ball that is closer to the target ball than the opponent’s best ball counts as one point. The team that reaches eight points first (five points if there are many players) wins. The winning teams from this series of games then compete against each other in a knockout round.

13:00 - 15:00 Uhr | Tennisplatz 1

Tennis | Sandwich relay (1)

In the Tennis Sandwich Relay, teams of two to four players compete against each other. Two players at a time clamp a tennis ball between their rackets and run together from the net to the baseline and back. There are three runs: one without obstacles, one with a slalom course, and one running sideways. The goal is to complete all three runs as quickly as possible without dropping the ball.

13:00 - 15:00 Uhr | Tennisplatz 1

Tennis | Letter game (1)

A team of two players plays cooperative rallies with each other on half a court. The goal is to achieve a set number of error-free rallies (e.g., five). If they succeed, the team receives a letter of the word “TENNIS.” After each letter, the team attempts the next letter. If a mistake is made, they start over. For each team, the time it takes to complete the word “TENNIS” is recorded. The winning team is the one that collects the entire word in the shortest amount of time.

13:00 - 15:00 Uhr | Tennisplatz 2

Tennis | Biathlon game (1)

Two teams compete against each other. Each team has three tennis balls. Two target buckets or baskets are placed on the field. One after another, the players must throw a ball into the bucket from a designated spot. Each successful throw is worth one point. For every ball that misses, the throwing player must run a penalty lap, during which they toss their ball up, let it bounce once, and catch it again to throw the next ball into the bucket. After a set amount of time (e.g., three minutes), the team with the most hits wins.

13:00 - 16:00 Uhr | Tennisplatz 3

Tennis | Monkey game (2)

Four players play at the net at the same time; balls must be hit into marked zones (except your own); each player starts with five “lives.”

Hard shots are not allowed.

Relay running race (1)

A loop (approximately 1.1 km, see map) is run five times by a relay team of up to five runners (mixed teams allowed). The start and finish are in front of the castle. Of the maximum five runners, three must be on the course at the same time and cross the finish line together. Each relay team decides for itself when and which runners will be substituted. The transition zone is located in the start/finish area.
